At Spire CM, the Owner’s Representative and the Owner’s Construction Manager are the same. At some Owner’s Rep companies, the job description is to be the “eyes and ears” of the Owner with little responsibility towards management. These positions are often held by less qualified individuals than that of the Construction Manager. It’s a lot like being represented in court by a legal aid, rather than an attorney. However, when Spire CM is retained, the Owner benefits from Spire’s decades of construction experience. It’s important to remember that a contractor will always serve in the best interest of their own company. We would expect nothing less, but it often places the Owner at a disadvantage when it comes to pricing, schedule and sometimes quality. It’s simply the reality of how it works.

Most Owners are not as experienced in matters of construction as a building contractor and/or don’t have the time to effectively negotiate, constantly monitor and administer their project. They are often led to believe that the contractor will manage their project for them, but that can be a lot like letting the fox guard the henhouse.
